She gets no help in Sweden, so her pen pal Francesca Scrofana, a nurse, suggests that she move to Sicily. Hedda does that and starts to slowly recover from her illness. In Sicily, she meets Dino Vargas, a handsome ranger, at a party. He starts to court her, and she finds it hard to resist him. It turns out that they have a lot in common, and thanks to him, her secret dream to work as a ranger comes true. Together they try to save the raptors from being killed, and it takes them on adventures where their lives are threatened. They ask God and the virgin Mary for help, but no one knows if they will survive.
